Rishikesh: ‘Angels’ in Action — Rafting Guides Rescue Drowning Youth, Save Life with CPR

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand: A potentially tragic incident in the Ganga River turned into a story of heroism, thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of local rafting guides. A young man began to drown while bathing in the river, but the timely intervention of trained guides and the application of CPR saved his life.

The incident occurred at Yusuf Beach in the Eco-Tourism Zone under the Shivpuri police jurisdiction. The 22-year-old youth, identified as Avinash, was visiting Shivpuri with friends and had stepped into the river when his foot slipped, pulling him into deep, fast-flowing water.

Rafting Guides Rush to Rescue
On hearing the commotion, Vipin Sharma, a trainer conducting rafting sessions nearby, rushed to the scene. Without wasting a moment, he threw a rope and, with the help of fellow guides, launched a rescue operation.

After a strenuous effort, the team managed to pull Avinash out of the river, at which point he was unconscious. The guides immediately administered CPR on the spot, successfully reviving him before he was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

Entire Rescue Captured on Camera
The dramatic rescue was captured on a camera installed by one of the rafting guides, showing the fearless efforts of the team as they risked their own lives to save Avinash.

Gratitude Expressed by the Youth and Friends
Post-treatment, Avinash’s condition was reported to be stable. He and his friends expressed deep gratitude to the rafting guides, acknowledging that without their swift action, the situation could have ended in tragedy.
