Karauli, Rajasthan: Karauli Kotwali police have successfully arrested notorious history-sheeter Atara Gurjar, carrying a reward of ₹25,000. The criminal had been misleading authorities through social media but was finally caught after a carefully planned operation tracing him from Jaipur. Atara Gurjar is facing 12 serious criminal cases, including property disputes, illegal extortion, and attempts to murder.
How the Police Nabbed Him
SP Lokesh Sonwal stated that Atara Gurjar had been evading arrest using cunning tactics. He misled the police by posting videos and reels from multiple locations on social media and communicated through Instagram calls, Facebook calls, and Wi-Fi hotspots to avoid detection.
The police received intelligence that Gurjar was in Jaipur. A dedicated team was dispatched and tracked him for ten days. Despite repeated raids on his known hideouts, Gurjar managed to shift locations. The breakthrough came when the police cleverly posted on social media that Gurjar was returning to Karauli from Jaipur, confusing him. While moving with his associates toward Ruggapura, he was intercepted and arrested by the team at Siddharth Nagar Colony.
Criminal Background
Authorities said that Gurjar had been intimidating locals by exploiting land disputes and working with land mafias. He faces 12 serious criminal cases, including illegal possession of weapons, drug trafficking, theft, assault, and attempt to murder. He also has ongoing rivalries with other history-sheeters in the region, including Darshan Gurjar.
This operation highlights the police’s use of both technology and tactical planning to apprehend criminals exploiting social media to evade law enforcement.
