
Indore: A tragic incident was reported during the international urology conference USICON-2026 in Indore, where noted woman urologist from Sikkim, Dr. Tsering (Doma) Bhutia, passed away while undergoing treatment after collapsing on stage during her presentation.
According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon when Dr. Bhutia was delivering a presentation at the conference venue. In the middle of her speech, she suddenly felt unwell and collapsed on the stage, leaving doctors and delegates present at the event shocked.
Immediately after the incident, medical experts attending the conference rushed to provide emergency assistance. She was given CPR on the spot and was later shifted to Life Care Hospital for primary treatment. As her condition remained critical, she was referred to Apollo Hospital the same evening.
Medical examinations revealed that Dr. Bhutia was suffering from a brain aneurysm, a condition caused by a weakened blood vessel in the brain that can rupture suddenly and lead to severe internal bleeding. Doctors stated that the rupture worsened her condition rapidly, following which she was placed on a ventilator in an unconscious state.
Plans for Airlift, But Life Could Not Be Saved
Considering her deteriorating health, doctors planned to airlift her to Medanta Hospital in Mumbai for advanced treatment. However, with the consent of her family, she was instead shifted to Medanta Hospital in Indore, where she remained under specialist care. Despite continuous medical efforts, Dr. Bhutia succumbed early Tuesday morning.
Body to Be Sent to Sikkim After Formalities
Dr. Tsering (Doma) Bhutia was a resident of Sikkim and belonged to a Buddhist family. Her body has been sent to MGM Medical College in Indore for embalming procedures to preserve it. After completing all necessary formalities, her mortal remains will be sent to Sikkim for the last rites.
The sudden demise of Dr. Bhutia has left the medical fraternity deeply saddened, as she was regarded as a highly respected specialist in her field.
