Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh):
In a tragic incident highlighting the growing risks associated with social media trends, a 22-year-old man lost his life while attempting to shoot a reel on an under-construction flyover in Bareilly district on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Faizan, a local barber by profession. According to police and eyewitness accounts, Faizan was out with his friends when the incident occurred on the road leading to Bijauria Railway Station, where construction work on a flyover is currently underway.
Eyewitnesses said several heavy concrete slabs were lying along the roadside. Faizan reportedly climbed onto one of the slabs and began recording a reel to a film song. During the act, he lost his balance and slipped, falling from the slab. A concrete slab also reportedly shifted and fell on his head, killing him on the spot.
Family Refuses Post-Mortem
Faizan’s father, Mehndi Hasan, said his son had left home around 5 pm with friends. Following the incident, the family was left devastated and refused to conduct a post-mortem examination.
Rising Concern Over Risky Reels
This is not the first such incident linked to dangerous reel-making attempts. Several similar accidents have been reported across Bareilly and other districts of Uttar Pradesh in recent years, raising serious concerns over the lack of awareness and safety among youngsters chasing social media popularity.
Police officials said the matter has been noted and appealed to the public, especially youth, to avoid risky stunts and unsafe locations while creating online content.
