Patna:
A dangerous social media stunt narrowly avoided a major tragedy in Bihar, where a group of youths allegedly placed heavy wooden logs and concrete obstacles on a railway track to stop the premium Vande Bharat Express, solely to shoot a reel for social media. The shocking incident reportedly occurred near the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama rail section in the Patna division.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing at least five boys—appearing to be minors—deliberately obstructing the railway track by placing thick logs and lifting concrete poles. In the video, one of the boys can be heard boasting, “Today we have come to stop the train, and we will stop it at any cost.”
According to railway sources, the Vande Bharat Express stopped on the adjacent track due to a technical issue, after which the boys falsely claimed credit for halting the high-speed train. The youths were later seen approaching the stationary train and celebrating their act on camera, putting hundreds of passengers’ lives at risk.
Railway security personnel onboard the train were seen reprimanding the boys and forcing them to move away from the tracks. Following the viral spread of the video, the Railway Administration has launched an investigation and efforts are underway to identify those involved.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users demanding strict legal action against the accused. Several users warned that if the train driver had failed to notice the obstruction in time, the consequences could have been catastrophic, potentially leading to a major derailment and loss of lives.
A post by X (formerly Twitter) user Jitendra Pratap Singh condemned the act, calling it “reckless and criminal,” and urged authorities to take stringent action under serious laws to deter such behavior in the future.
