
New Delhi: In the aftermath of the Red Fort blast, one patient continues to remain on a ventilator, with doctors describing their condition as critical. Meanwhile, four more injured patients have been discharged from the hospital, bringing the total number of discharged patients to seven. The remaining patients, except for the one on a ventilator, are stable and showing signs of rapid recovery.
Treatment Ongoing for 19 Injured
The blast, which occurred near the Red Fort on Monday evening, initially resulted in 10 fatalities and 27 injuries. The injured were admitted to LNJP and Sushrut Trauma Centre, with 26 patients at LNJP and one at Sushrut. At LNJP, one patient, identified as Bilal, succumbed to injuries, bringing the total death toll to 11. Previously, three patients had been discharged, and four more were discharged on Friday. Presently, 19 patients remain under medical care, with hospital-arranged transport provided to those discharged.
Post-Mortem and Identification Status
Of the 11 deceased, eight bodies have been identified, post-mortem completed, and handed over to families. Two bodies, identified as Dr. Umar and Bilal, await post-mortem as their relatives have yet to come forward for identification. Dr. Umar’s identity was confirmed via DNA testing conducted by AIIMS forensic team, matching samples from his mother and brother. One body still remains unidentified.
Critical Condition of Patient on Ventilator
Doctors report that the patient on the ventilator has sustained 60% burns, lost a leg due to the blast, and has fractures in both arms. Surgery has been performed, but the patient remains in critical condition under continuous monitoring.
Consolidated Care for Remaining Patients
To ensure efficient treatment, all remaining patients are kept in the same ward, allowing specialist teams from multiple departments to provide daily care and follow-up.
