Ranchi, Jharkhand: The political heat is on in Jharkhand ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, with the state BJP finalizing its candidates for mayor and council president positions in nine municipal corporations. In Ranchi, the stage is set for a unique face-off—BJP-supported Roshni Khalkho will contest against Congress-backed former Mayor Rama Khalkho. This election promises an intriguing battle of two candidates sharing the same surname.

Municipal Election Preparations Underway

The BJP core committee finalized the candidates in a meeting attended by National General Secretary Arun Singh and Vice President Rekha Verma. While the party has not released an official public list due to the non-party basis of the elections, district presidents have been instructed to move forward with the selected candidates. Roshni Khalkho is set to file her nomination for Ranchi Municipal Corporation on February 4, while Rama Khalkho, drawing on her previous experience as mayor, officially announced her candidacy on February 3, making the contest particularly exciting.
