Ranchi Police Strike Against Narcotic Cough Syrup Syndicate: Raids Conducted at 3 Locations, UP-Bangladesh Link Under Probe

Ranchi: In a decisive move against the illegal trade of narcotic cough syrup, Ranchi Police have launched a major operation in the city. Under the directives of SSP Rakesh Ranjan, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed and conducted simultaneous raids at three different locations across Ranchi. The operation is being led by the Rural SP.

Three Locations Raided
The SIT, under the leadership of the Rural SP, carried out coordinated raids at three key sites in the city. In Tupudana area’s Industrial Zone, a raid at Shaili Traders is being conducted under the supervision of City DSP V. Raman. Several crucial documents have been seized during the operation.

Weapons and Financial Records Seized
City DSP V. Raman confirmed that, apart from important documents, police also recovered multiple bank checkbooks and two firearms. The firearms are being examined to determine their nature and legality.

Interstate Evidence Unearthed
Preliminary investigation has revealed documents indicating that the narcotic cough syrup trade was being run not only in Jharkhand but across other states as well.

UP and Bangladesh Connection
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also conducted raids at Shaili Traders, which uncovered links to Uttar Pradesh and Bangladesh in the narcotic syrup network. In connection with this, accused Bhola Prasad has already been arrested in a case involving codeine-based cough syrup.

The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the full scope of the syndicate and its interstate and international links.
