Ranchi is all set to bid farewell to 2025 and welcome 2026 with grand celebrations. Anticipating large crowds at picnic spots and markets, the district administration has put stringent safety and law-and-order measures in place.
New Year Festivities at Popular Tourist Spots
In preparation for the New Year 2026, the administration has made extensive arrangements to maintain peace, security, and public order. Popular locations such as Dasham Falls, Jonha Falls, Hundru Falls, and various dams, reservoirs, and rivers are expected to witness a significant influx of visitors celebrating the occasion.
Surge in Meat and Dairy Sales
During the New Year celebrations, approximately 15,000 kg of mutton and 110 tons of chicken are expected to be sold in Ranchi. Local traders report that sales of meat products can increase up to fivefold during this period. Additionally, demand for milk, curd, paneer, and khoya is expected to rise by 30–40%. Traders noted that the surge in demand began on 30 December and is likely to continue until 5 January.
Strict Safety Protocols for Recreational Activities
Authorities have issued strict guidelines for picnics and water-based activities. Boating and swimming will only be permitted for those wearing life jackets, and all other water sports are prohibited to prevent accidents. Risky areas near waterfalls will be cordoned off, and professional divers will be deployed at hazardous spots such as Dasham Falls.
Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Measures
Police officers and law enforcement officials have been assigned to ensure safety and maintain order. Drunk driving will be strictly monitored; violators will have their vehicles confiscated and be required to return home on foot, with legal action taken as per regulations. Street racing offenders will also face vehicle confiscation. Special vigilance will be maintained against harassment or misconduct toward women and girls, with immediate legal action against offenders.
The district administration has coordinated with all local police, block development officers, and other authorities to ensure that safety and law-and-order measures are effectively implemented across all popular New Year picnic spots.
