Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: Dr. Ramvilas Das Vedanti, a prominent leader of the Ram Temple movement and former BJP MP, passed away on 15 December 2025 during a Ram Katha in his hometown of Gudhwa village, Rewa, where he was born on 7 October 1958. Known for his simple and spiritual lifestyle, Vedanti spent his final moments spreading religious teachings in the very land that shaped his early life.
Early Life and Spiritual Journey
From a young age, Vedanti showed a keen interest in Sanskrit and religious scriptures. He completed his initial education in Rewa before embarking on a spiritual path in Ayodhya, where he was initiated as a disciple of Mahant Abhiram Das of Hanumangarhi. Despite his extensive involvement in national religious and political movements, Vedanti maintained a deep connection to his birthplace, frequently returning to Rewa to conduct Ram Katha sessions.
A Life Dedicated to Ram Katha and Social Inspiration
Vedanti’s Ram Katha sessions drew thousands of devotees, resonating throughout the valleys of the Vindhya region. His teachings inspired many, particularly youth, to embrace Ram devotion and social service. The simplicity and humility of Rewa profoundly influenced his spiritual approach and leadership in the Ram Temple movement.
Passing in His Hometown
During his latest visit to Rewa for a Ram Katha, Vedanti fell ill. Due to foggy weather, an air ambulance could not land in time, and he breathed his last in the very village where he was born—a poignant coincidence marking the end of a life devoted to faith and community. Residents of Rewa remember him with pride, honoring his contributions to spiritual and national causes.
Dr. Vedanti’s life stands as a testament to spiritual dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his roots, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
