Rakesh Tikait Warns: “If Shankaracharya Visits Without Bath, It Will Be a Sin; Government Will Bear the Consequences”

Prayagraj: The controversy surrounding Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati at the Magh Mela shows no signs of abating. While the Shankaracharya is demanding an apology from mela officials, the issuance of a notice against him has further escalated tensions. In this matter, Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), has expressed his support for the Shankaracharya.

In a viral video, Tikait said, “Take Maharaj Ji around. If Shankaracharya Ji comes without taking a bath, it will be a sin, and the government will face the consequences. This is a dictatorial government. Cases will be filed against those who question this.”

Magh Mela Administration Seeks Response Within 24 Hours
Earlier, the Magh Mela administration issued a notice to Swami Avimukteshwaranand, citing a Supreme Court order and questioning his use of the title “Shankaracharya” alongside his name. The notice demanded a written response within 24 hours. The Swami’s lawyer argued that the officials have misinterpreted the court’s order and misled the public. Legal action will be taken by sending a formal notice to the administration.

Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Holds Meeting
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha held a meeting in Meerut to protest the alleged mistreatment of the Shankaracharya. Speakers at the meeting condemned the behavior towards the Shankaracharya and his disciples during their ritual bath in the Ganga, calling it highly objectionable. They further claimed that the incident is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the Uttar Pradesh government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
