Rakesh Tikait Takes Charge in Kitchen at Prayagraj Magh Mela, Cooks Paneer-Peas Dish Amid Delay in Bhandara

Prayagraj, January 17, 2026: During the ongoing Kisan Kumbh organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Tikait faction) at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait surprised everyone with a hands-on approach. When preparations for the communal feast (bhandara) were delayed, Tikait personally entered the kitchen and started cooking a dish of potatoes, peas, and paneer.

Hands-On Leadership

Tikait, taking a spatula in hand, began stirring the vegetable curry himself in the makeshift kitchen of the Kumbh camp. Soon, other farmer leaders joined him to assist in the preparation, creating a warm and lively atmosphere that drew the attention of numerous workers and supporters. Security officials later escorted him out to maintain order.

Engaging with Farmers for Hours

Tikait stayed in Prayagraj for the day, spending approximately 12 hours with the farmers. The day was largely devoted to discussions on movement strategies and farmer-centric issues. He is scheduled to remain in the city for three days, attending multiple meetings and events as part of the national deliberation camp.

National Deliberation Camp Activities

The third day of the Kisan Kumbh’s National Chintan Shivir focused on strengthening organizational support, mobilizing public participation, and planning disciplined involvement in future activities. Discussions involved farmers, laborers, and youth, with an emphasis on developing strategies for upcoming movements.

Key Leadership Presence

The National Working Committee meeting included senior leaders such as Tikait, youth state president Anuj Singh, state president Rajpal Sharma, national general secretary Rajveer Singh Jadoun, and Balram Nambardar, among others. The meeting involved in-depth discussions on organizational strategy, the direction of movements, and pressing issues affecting the farming community.
