Raju Tiwari Appointed Bihar Assembly Whip, Earns State Minister-Level Protocol

East Champaran, Bihar: Raju Tiwari, MLA from Govindganj and state president of the LJP (Ram Vilas), has been appointed as the Whip of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The appointment, approved by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and formally recognized by the Assembly Speaker, grants Tiwari state minister-level privileges and protocol. The announcement has sparked excitement among party workers across Govindganj and surrounding areas.

Rise to Prominence

Raju Tiwari, considered a close aide of LJP national president Chirag Paswan, first drew public attention when he demanded a FIR against IAS officer Santosh Verma for making objectionable remarks about Brahmin daughters during a Bihar Assembly session. Tiwari condemned the officer’s statement as offensive and unacceptable, asserting that such comments insult society’s daughters and demanded strict action against him.

Political Journey and Background

An MA graduate, Raju Tiwari’s primary profession is agriculture, and he is also reported to be a wealthy businessman. He hails from a politically influential family and is the elder brother of well-known strongman leader Rajan Tiwari, who won the Govindganj seat as an independent candidate in 2000. Raju Tiwari entered the Assembly in 2015, winning the seat on an LJP ticket, though he lost in the 2020 elections to a BJP candidate.

Spectacular Comeback in 2025

In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Raju Tiwari made a remarkable comeback, defeating Congress candidate Shashi Bhushan Rai (Gappu Rai) from Govindganj, marking a strong return to active politics.

With his appointment as Assembly Whip, Raju Tiwari consolidates his influence in Bihar politics, further strengthening his position within the LJP (Ram Vilas) and among supporters in East Champaran.
