Baran, Rajasthan: In the Anta Assembly by-election, supporters of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje erupted in cheers during a roadshow held in Mangrol town, where Raje accompanied Bhajanlal Sharma. The video of the event, showing supporters chanting slogans in praise of Vasundhara Raje, has gone viral on social media.
Raje has been actively campaigning for her preferred BJP candidate, Morpal Suman, for the past five days in Anta-Baran, leaving no stone unturned to secure a victory. During the roadshow, supporters walked alongside the chariot carrying Bhajanlal Sharma, chanting slogans like:
“Humaari Chief Minister kaise ho, woh Vasundhara Raje jaise ho”
(“We wish our Chief Minister were like Vasundhara Raje”), electrifying the crowd and drawing attention across the constituency.
Political Context
In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, the BJP’s top leadership did not announce a Chief Ministerial candidate before the polls. After winning a majority, the leadership sent a slip to Rajnath Singh, who handed it over to the legislative party, revealing the name Bhajanlal Sharma—a first-time MLA—shocking Vasundhara Raje and her supporters. Since then, speculation about Raje assuming the Chief Minister’s office has persisted over the last two years, keeping her camp hopeful.
Supporters Express Their Wishes
Thursday’s roadshow in Anta gave Raje’s supporters a platform to express their sentiments directly. The slogan praising Raje became the highlight of the event, dominating discussions in political circles across Rajasthan. While Vasundhara Raje’s eyes were the focus of the crowd, Bhajanlal Sharma rode the chariot as the acting Chief Minister during the roadshow.
This viral moment underscores the continuing influence and admiration Raje commands among grassroots BJP supporters, highlighting her enduring popularity in Rajasthan politics.
