Jodhpur: Tragedy struck the Indian Air Force as Sergeant Thanararam Jangid, 38, from Jodhpur, succumbed to a cardiac arrest while on a routine morning run at the Prayagraj Air Force Station. The devoted soldier, who had dedicated his life to serving the nation, collapsed mid-run and passed away within moments, leaving family, colleagues, and his village in deep mourning.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Claims Young Soldier
On the morning of 6th November, Sergeant Thanararam was running alongside his fellow airmen during daily training exercises. Suddenly, he experienced severe chest pain and fell to the ground. Despite immediate medical attention, he was declared dead by the doctors. This incident highlights a growing concern as cardiac arrests have increasingly affected young individuals in Rajasthan.
Village Pays Tearful Tribute
Thanararam hailed from Jaziwal Kalan village in Bhopalgarh, Jodhpur. His body, draped in the tricolor, returned to the village, and grief swept across the community. Villagers, young and old, gathered to pay their respects—women wept, elders’ eyes filled with tears, and children saluted while chanting, “Jai Jawan, Jai Bharat”. The atmosphere resonated with the cries of “Thanararam Amar Rahe” (Long live Thanararam).
Final Honors with Military Ceremony
At the cremation site, the Air Force conducted full military honors. The solemn tunes of the bugle, ceremonial salutes, and a gun salute echoed in the air. The national flag was handed over to his father amidst tears and grief.
Life of Service and Discipline
Sergeant Thanararam was due for premature retirement in June next year. He had hoped to return to his village to instill discipline, patriotism, and inspire young minds to join the armed forces. His untimely death cut short these dreams.
Family Tragedy Deepens
Thanararam’s family has already endured immense loss—his mother passed away earlier, and his younger brother died during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, his untimely passing has left his wife, a son, a daughter, and father in deep sorrow. Villagers remember him as “not just a son of Akharam, but the son of the entire village”, whose bravery and service will remain an inspiration for generations.
In life, a soldier’s heartbeat may stop, but for those who beat for the nation, their spirit never dies. Sergeant Thanararam’s final run is a solemn reminder of courage, dedication, and the unpredictable fragility of life.
