Sikar, Rajasthan: The Rajasthan High Court has taken a stern stance against the illegal occupation of grazing land in Danta Ramgarh, directing action against the SDM and Tehsildar responsible. The court emphasized that encroachment on grazing land constitutes serious negligence and warrants strict disciplinary measures.
Background of the Case
The issue pertains to a valuable grazing land in Trilokipura village, Danta Ramgarh tehsil. Approximately 25 years ago, the district administration had allocated this land to a private institution from Kolkata. Local villagers consistently protested this allocation, and the matter escalated to the High Court. The court had previously ordered that no action should be taken on this land, yet, two months ago, the SDM and Tehsildar, accompanied by police, allegedly facilitated an illegal occupation of the land.
High Court Intervention
Villagers, led by senior citizen Prem Singh Shekhawat, approached the High Court again seeking justice. During the hearing, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma remarked that facilitating illegal occupation despite explicit court orders amounts to contempt of court.
The court instructed the Rajasthan Government’s Chief Secretary to ensure that:
- Disciplinary action under Rule 16 is taken against the responsible officials.
- Further proceedings under CCC Rule 13 are initiated immediately to prevent recurrence.
The High Court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which grazing land protection and legal compliance are being treated in Rajasthan, sending a strong message to public officials about accountability and adherence to judicial directives.
