Monika Gurjar, hailing from the small village of Pichupada Kala in Dausa district, has made history by being selected for the Rajasthan Junior Women’s Shooting Ball Team. Her exceptional performance at the state-level selection camp in Sikar has earned her a place at the national level, marking a remarkable milestone in her sporting journey.
The selection camp, held on 30 October in Sanwalpura, Sikar district, witnessed Monika’s remarkable skills in fast ball throwing and accurate targeting. The selection committee, led by the state association’s Joint Secretary Sunil Bainsla, was highly impressed by her performance and immediately included her in the junior women’s team. Her selection has sparked a wave of pride and celebrations across Dausa, with local sports enthusiasts congratulating the young athlete.
Humble Background, Lofty Aspirations
Monika comes from a modest family; her father, Sushil Khatana, works in the private sector, while her mother, Anguri Devi, is a homemaker and her biggest source of inspiration. Currently, Monika is pursuing her first year of BSTC at a private college in Haryana. She completed her early education at a private school in Sikandra, Dausa, where her passion for sports first blossomed. Initially taking up shooting ball as a hobby, Monika’s dedication and talent soon turned it into a serious pursuit and her ultimate dream.
Next Stop: National Championship in Ghaziabad
Monika’s sights are now set on the 44th Junior National Shooting Ball Championship, scheduled to be held from 7 to 9 November in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Rajasthan Women’s Team departed from Jaipur Junction on Saturday, with Monika leading the team in the tournament. Her selection is a matter of pride not just for her family but for the entire district of Dausa and the state of Rajasthan.
Monika Gurjar’s journey from a small village to the national arena exemplifies that with courage, perseverance, and hard work, even the loftiest dreams can take flight.
