Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan): In a heart-stopping incident near Mukundgarh in Jhunjhunu district, a moving Scorpio car suddenly turned into a blazing fireball on Friday afternoon. The vehicle, carrying seven family members including five children, was on its way to attend a traditional Mayra (wedding gift) ceremony when the fire broke out.
The accident occurred on the Kumawas–Delsar road near Dabri Balauda village. Residents Nadeem and Anwar were traveling to their sister Kheruna’s home in Bhodki (Gudhagorji) for the ceremony. Along with them were Nadeem’s children Arzoo (14), Ayaan (13), and Alia (10); Anwar’s daughter Tamanna (15); their nephew Adnan (3); and their friend Ajay Nayak (25).
Smoke Erupts, Panic Follows
While Anwar was driving, smoke suddenly started billowing from the bonnet, just three kilometers from their home. Anwar tried to stop and turn off the engine, but it wouldn’t shut down. Within seconds, flames erupted and the automatic locks jammed, trapping everyone inside as the car filled with smoke.
Driver Turns Hero — Breaks the Window to Rescue All
In a display of quick thinking and sheer courage, Anwar grabbed a stone and smashed the window, pulling each trapped passenger out one by one — first Nadeem, then the five children, and finally Ajay. His timely action turned what could have been a fatal tragedy into a miraculous escape.
Vehicle Engulfed in Flames
Within minutes, the Scorpio was completely engulfed. Passersby tried to douse the fire using water and soil, but the vehicle and all belongings were reduced to ashes.
Wedding Gifts Worth ₹10 Lakh Destroyed
According to Anwar, the car carried around ₹8 lakh worth of Mayra items, including ₹2 lakh in cash, one tola of gold, and nearly 60 tolas of silver jewelry. Everything, along with the car, was destroyed — causing a total loss of nearly ₹10 lakh.
Fortunately, all passengers survived. Nadeem suffered about 10% burns and was admitted to the government hospital in Gudhagorji for treatment. Locals hailed Anwar as a hero, saying that his presence of mind prevented a joyous occasion from turning into a day of mourning.
