At the age of 89, he was admitted following breathing difficulties and has been battling for his life in the ICU.
News of his condition has sparked widespread concern among his fans and supporters in Bikaner. Residents have been praying for his recovery in local temples, while social media witnessed the hashtag #GetWellSoonDharmendra trending as the city’s people expressed their concern. Several local leaders and political workers noted that although Dharmendra had stepped away from politics, he continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Bikaner residents.

Dharmendra ventured into politics in 2004, contesting the Bikaner Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket. He defeated Congress candidate Rameshwar Dudi by 57,175 votes. Despite being elected, he spent most of his tenure in Mumbai, drawing some criticism from the local populace. At one point, posters highlighting his absence from Bikaner were displayed around the city. After his term, Dharmendra gradually distanced himself from active politics, leaving behind a lasting impression in the region.
