Bikaner Horror: Army Soldier Stabbed to Death on Moving Train Over Blanket Request

Bikaner, Rajasthan: A shocking incident shook Bikaner late Sunday night when a soldier returning home on leave was brutally stabbed to death by coach attendants of the Jammu Tawi Express (Train No. 12413). The tragic death of 28-year-old Jigar Chaudhary, an infantry unit soldier from Sabarmati, Gujarat, has sent shockwaves across both the Railway and the Indian Army.

A Blanket Request Turned Deadly

According to reports from News18 and NDTV, Chaudhary boarded the sleeper coach of the Jammu Tawi Express from Firozpur, Punjab, on his way home. When the train was between Lunakaranser and Bikaner, a dispute erupted between him and the coach attendants over blankets and bedding.

The soldier had requested a blanket due to the cold, but the attendants refused. What began as a minor argument quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. One of the attendants pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Chaudhary in the chest, abdomen, and shoulder.

Chaos in the Coach, Passengers Intervene

Panic erupted inside the coach as passengers screamed. Quick-thinking travelers pulled the emergency chain, stopping the train and alerting the GRP (Government Railway Police). Chaudhary was rushed to PBM Hospital, Bikaner, by 108 ambulance services with the help of fellow passengers. Tragically, he succumbed to severe blood loss en route. Post-mortem confirmed death due to excessive hemorrhage, and the body has been handed over to the Army.

Attendants in Custody, Investigation Underway

GRP Station Officer Anand Gila stated that the train was immediately stopped and both attendants were taken into custody. Preliminary investigations confirm the dispute arose over blankets and seat allocation. Police are questioning the attendants regarding how they had a knife on board and why it was carried on the train.

Outrage in Railway and Army Circles

The incident sparked anger among railway officials and Army officers, who visited Bikaner Railway Station to assess the situation. The soldier’s death has raised serious questions about passenger safety and railway negligence, highlighting the urgent need for stricter safety measures on trains.

This tragic event has left the public and authorities demanding accountability, as the loss of a young Army soldier over something as trivial as a blanket has caused widespread shock and grief.
