Rajasthan Weather Update: Shri Ganganagar Freezes as Shekhawati on Orange Alert; Changing Weather Patterns Grip the State

The cold wave in Marudhara is showing no signs of easing. Shri Ganganagar has recorded a chilling 3.9°C, while temperatures in Shekhawati are rapidly approaching the freezing point. Dense fog has slowed down traffic across the state, and the sun seems to be taking a break in several districts. A severe cold spell is expected to hit the region on January 11-12. Here’s the latest update on weather conditions across your district.

Dense Fog and Dropping Temperatures Across Rajasthan
Jaipur: Even before Makar Sankranti, the air in Rajasthan has turned biting cold, with dense fog covering the state. According to the latest report from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, Udaipur, and Jaipur divisions has dropped significantly, forcing vehicles to slow down.

Shri Ganganagar Records the Lowest Temperature
Shri Ganganagar emerged as the coldest district in the state today, with the mercury dipping to 3.9°C. Cold winds from the north have created near-“cold day” conditions in the plains. The persistent fog has blocked sunlight in many areas, resulting in a sharp drop in daytime temperatures.

Orange Alert Issued for Shekhawati
The Jaipur Meteorological Center has warned that in northern Rajasthan, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by another 1-2°C over the next 24 hours. Several districts are expected to experience a cold wave. Shekhawati—covering Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu—is under an orange alert for January 11-12, when temperatures may hover near the freezing point, raising concerns about frost affecting crops.

One-Week Weather Outlook
The silver lining is that Rajasthan is expected to remain largely dry over the next week, with little to no chances of rain. However, dense fog and chilly conditions are likely to persist for 2-3 days in parts of western, northern, and eastern Rajasthan.
