Reasons for Rejection
Authorities stated that claims were dismissed when valid documents declaring the property as Waqf were not provided, revenue records did not include the property in the claimant’s name, or the land was already registered as private or government property. Incomplete information, duplicate entries, and discrepancies in documentation also led to many rejections.
Impact of the Amended Waqf Law
The Waqf Amendment Act has introduced significant changes, including modifications in tribunal procedures and the inclusion of women and non-Muslim members in state boards. While the act has faced political and social debate nationwide, the Supreme Court has issued interim orders suspending certain provisions. Currently, collectors retain authority to conduct verification, but final decisions regarding eviction or property rights will be made following judicial orders.
With this initiative, Rajasthan has set a precedent in rigorous scrutiny of Waqf claims, ensuring transparency and adherence to the law in property verification.
