Jaipur, Rajasthan: For the first time in Rajasthan, two government girls’ Sainik Schools are set to open in Bikaner and Sikar, aiming to nurture the next generation of female military leaders. The schools will offer admission to Class 6 with a total of 160 seats. The announcement has sparked enormous enthusiasm, with around 13,000 applications already received—averaging 72 applicants per seat.
The schools are expected to produce future military officers like Colonel Sophia Quraishi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi, Captain Hansja Sharma, and Sub-Lieutenant Astha Poonia. The initiative is part of the Rajasthan state government’s 2024-25 budget plan to promote women in the armed forces.
