In a major move to ensure transparency and curb recruitment-related malpractices, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) has decided to make candidates’ OMR answer sheets available online. The decision is being seen as a decisive step to prevent manipulation of marks and restore credibility to the state’s recruitment process.
The new system will be implemented beginning with the upcoming Class IV (Peon) recruitment examination, marking a significant reform in how competitive examinations are conducted in Rajasthan.
Candidates to View OMR Sheets Online
RSSB Chairman Alok Raj announced that candidates will now be able to view their original OMR sheets on the board’s official website after the examination. Until now, aspirants had access only to final results, leaving room for allegations of tampering and lack of accountability.
“With this reform, the entire evaluation process will become transparent. Candidates can verify their answers themselves, eliminating doubts about unfair practices,” officials said.
Background: Allegations of OMR Manipulation
The decision follows the exposure of a major scam in which a private firm, allegedly in collusion with some officials, was accused of collecting large sums of money from candidates and later filling in blank OMR responses to inflate scores. The scandal led to several undeserving candidates securing government jobs, while deserving aspirants were pushed out.
The controversy severely dented public trust in the recruitment system and intensified demands for systemic reform.
‘Zero Tolerance’ Against Corruption
Taking a firm stand, the RSSB has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against any form of corruption. Officials believe that uploading OMR sheets immediately after exams will make post-exam manipulation virtually impossible, as the documents will become part of a secure digital record.
Candidates and education experts have widely welcomed the move, calling it a “game changer” for fair recruitment and a major blow to the so-called “recruitment mafia.”
The reform is expected to significantly strengthen transparency, accountability, and public confidence in government recruitment examinations across Rajasthan.
