Jaipur: The political temperature in Rajasthan has soared following the results of the Anta Assembly by-election. Congress MLA Ashok Chandana has leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, accusing him of betraying former CM Vasundhara Raje and diverting support to BJP candidate Naresh Meena, which he claims led to the BJP’s defeat.
From Praised to Critic
Earlier, Chandana had been celebrated by the Congress party for his role in ensuring Pramod Jain Bhaya’s victory in the Anta by-election. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra had publicly honored Chandana by placing a ceremonial turban on him, recognizing his efforts. However, Chandana has now shifted the narrative, attributing BJP’s internal divisions and the party’s loss to alleged actions by CM Bhajanlal Sharma.
Chandana’s Allegations
Speaking to a news channel, Chandana alleged that Sharma colluded with former CM Vasundhara Raje but secretly manipulated votes in favor of Naresh Meena. Chandana claimed that Meena was Sharma’s preferred candidate and received financial backing from the CM, which, according to him, influenced the election outcome.
BJP Rejects Allegations
The BJP dismissed Chandana’s claims as “immature” and politically motivated. State spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj stated that the party had remained united in supporting its candidate, Morpal Suman, in the Anta by-election, and that Chandana’s statements misrepresent the facts. Bhardwaj emphasized that elections naturally have wins and losses, and internal unity ensured BJP’s strong campaigning.
Targeting Naresh Meena
During the campaign, Chandana was actively involved in the Anta constituency, taking charge of election strategies. He openly criticized Naresh Meena, calling him a tool of the BJP and urging voters not to support such leaders. His statements sparked significant discussion on social media and in political circles, drawing attention to alleged vote manipulation and internal conflicts within the BJP.
