Hanumangarh, Rajasthan: In a dramatic confrontation on Friday night, police in Sangaria, Hanumangarh district, engaged in a fierce encounter with a dangerous, wanted criminal. During the firefight, the Sangaria SHO narrowly escaped death, while the suspect was injured in the police response.
Based on confidential intelligence from the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), the police had set up a checkpoint near the Punjab border, anticipating that a wanted criminal from Punjab would attempt to enter Rajasthan. When a suspicious individual approached on foot and was signaled to stop, he opened fire on the police team without warning.
Bulletproof Jacket Proves Lifesaver
One of the bullets fired by the criminal struck SHO Amar Singh directly. Fortunately, he was wearing a bulletproof jacket, which prevented the bullet from penetrating, saving his life.
Police Retaliation
In self-defense, the police returned fire, hitting the suspect, identified as Rajveer, in the leg. Rajveer is reportedly wanted in multiple criminal cases in Tibbi and Sangaria. He was immediately taken into custody and admitted to the local hospital in Sangaria, where he is undergoing treatment.
Officials Visit the Scene
Following the encounter, Hanumangarh SP Harishankar, Additional SP Arvind Bishnoi, CO Karan Singh Barad, and officers from several police stations visited the scene to inspect the situation. The police are registering a case against the suspect under multiple sections of the law. SP Harishankar is scheduled to hold a press conference today to provide detailed information about the encounter and the criminal’s record.
