
Jaipur, Rajasthan: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has intensified its probe into the alleged ₹900 crore scam in Rajasthan’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). So far, nine senior officials have been arrested, with retired IAS officer Subodh Agarwal remaining a key focus of the investigation.
The ACB has conducted raids across 15 locations including Jaipur, Barmer, Delhi, Bihar, and Jharkhand, signaling a full-scale crackdown on officials implicated in the alleged misappropriation of funds meant to provide drinking water to citizens. The probe continues, and authorities expect more names to surface as the investigation progresses.
Officials Arrested
The arrested officers include:
- Dinesh Goyal, Chief Engineer (Administration)
- K.D. Gupta, Chief Engineer (Rural)
- Shubanshu Dixit, Additional Chief Engineer
- Sushil Sharma, Financial Advisor
- Neeril Kumar, Chief Engineer
- Vishal Saxena, suspended XEN, PHED, Jodhpur
- Arun Srivastava, retired Additional Chief Engineer
- D.K. Gaud, retired Chief Engineer
- Mahendra Prakash Soni, retired Superintending Engineer
All are undergoing interrogation as the investigation unfolds.
High-Profile Arrests
In a dramatic operation, Dinesh Goyal was taken into custody early morning from the five-star Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur after ACB tracked his location. He was reportedly attending a meeting arranged by a contractor when the team detained him and brought him to Jaipur.
Similarly, Vishal Saxena, posted with PHED Jodhpur, was arrested at Barmer railway station while visiting the Viratra Mata temple. ACB personnel, lying in wait, apprehended him as he disembarked from the train and transported him to Jaipur.
Scam Details
Preliminary investigation suggests that tenders worth approximately ₹960 crore were awarded using fake experience certificates. Companies such as Shri Ganpati Tubewell and Shri Shyam Tubewell allegedly received contracts through fraudulent work completion certificates issued under the name of Ircon International Ltd. The probe has also revealed substandard materials, including low-quality pipes, and payments made for incomplete work.

Sources indicate that further arrests, potentially including Agarwal and other senior officials, may follow in the coming days.
