
Jaipur: Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 on February 11, unveiling several key initiatives aimed at strengthening education and youth empowerment across the state. The budget focuses on digital education, skill development, personal growth of students, and overall youth development.
Here are the key highlights of the budget:
For School Students
- Free Uniforms: 40 lakh students from classes 1 to 8 will receive free uniforms, with a budget allocation of ₹250 crore.
- Meritorious Student Support: Students excelling in class 10 and 12 will receive e-vouchers worth up to ₹20,000 for purchasing laptops.
- School Infrastructure Development: ₹500 crore has been allocated for the renovation of over 2,500 schools. Additionally, ₹450 crore will be spent on constructing dilapidated school buildings and providing toilets in all schools.
- Sports and Learning Kits: Every school will be equipped with sports kits and “magic kits” at a cost of ₹323 crore.
For Colleges and Youth
- Dream Program: Aimed at college students, 50,000 students will benefit from the initiative next year.
- Language Training: 1,000 youth will receive training in English, Japanese, and Korean languages.
- Industry Partnership Centers: Each district will have centers in collaboration with industries, offering youth opportunities for skill development and self-reliance.
- New Tech Hubs: ₹30 crore will be invested in establishing new technology hubs.
- Laptop Assistance: Meritorious college students will also receive e-vouchers of up to ₹20,000 for laptops.
Digital Education and Skill Development
- Rajasthan Testing Agency: A state-level agency, modeled after the National Testing Agency, will be set up to conduct online exams and assessments.
- Skill Development Centers: The Major Shetan Singh Skill Development Training Centre will be established in Jodhpur.
- Integrated Military Complexes: Phase one of integrated complexes will be developed in Jodhpur, Tonk, and Shergarh.
- Scholarships for Martyrs’ Daughters: Annual scholarships for daughters of martyrs have been increased to ₹2,000.
“Our budget is focused on making education accessible and empowering our youth to become self-reliant,” said Diya Kumari, Finance Minister of Rajasthan.
