Rajasthan is witnessing a massive influx of tourists, both domestic and international, as the state gears up to bid farewell to 2025 and welcome New Year 2026. From Jaipur to Jaisalmer, hotels are fully booked, and major tourist destinations and shopping complexes are bustling with visitors.

Tourism in Rajasthan typically begins picking up in September, but by December, the season reaches its peak. In the last days of the year, the number of tourists multiplies, with people flocking to the state’s iconic attractions to celebrate the occasion. On 31st December, Jaipur and other major cities are witnessing heavy footfall at landmarks like Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, and Jantar Mantar.

According to the Jaipur Hotel Association, all hotels had been fully booked days in advance, with visitors making plans early to ensure a memorable New Year celebration. Shopping malls and entertainment complexes are also witnessing festive crowds enjoying the celebrations.

Udaipur and Jaisalmer emerge as major attractions

The Lake City Udaipur and the Golden City Jaisalmer have become focal points for tourists. Jaisalmer, in particular, has seen a significant rise in visitor numbers over recent years. It is estimated that nearly 100,000 domestic and foreign tourists could visit Jaisalmer on the evening of 31st December. Visitors heading to the Sam sand dunes are arriving in thousands, eager to experience desert festivities despite the chilly weather.

Hotels fully booked, businesses thriving

With all hotels and guesthouses fully booked, many tourists arriving without reservations are facing difficulties, often forced to spend the night at railway stations or bus stands. However, hospitality operators are taking advantage of the surge, charging three to four times the regular room rates. Despite the harsh winter, tourists are determined to make their New Year celebrations in Rajasthan memorable and grand.

Rajasthan continues to be a prime destination for festive tourism, drawing visitors with its rich heritage, cultural vibrancy, and desert charm.
