Raja Bhaiya Demands Amendments in Ayushman Scheme for Families with More Than Four Children

Pratapgarh, UP: During the 2026 Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Kunda MLA and Jan Satta Party Democratic chief Raghuraj Pratap Singh, popularly known as Raja Bhaiya, raised a demand to amend the Ayushman Bharat scheme to benefit families with more than four children.

Speaking during the discussion on the Governor’s address, Raja Bhaiya emphasized the need to review the population-related provisions of the scheme. He pointed out that the current rules specify that a family must consist of six members—husband, wife, and four children—to qualify. Raja Bhaiya suggested that this restriction prevents many deserving families from availing of the benefits.

Clarifying Age and Eligibility Criteria

Raja Bhaiya highlighted inconsistencies in the scheme’s age criteria. In some places, the age limit for husband and wife is mentioned as 60 years, while elsewhere it is 70 years. He urged the government to standardize these provisions to make the scheme more accessible.

He also recommended that the rules be revised to account for families with more than four children, allowing a larger segment of the population to benefit from the Ayushman scheme.

Support for Legislator Fund Reforms

In addition, Raja Bhaiya called for flexibility in using MLA funds for medical assistance. He noted that people with serious injuries from accidents often face difficulties in obtaining aid because certain cases are not classified as “incurable.” Revising these guidelines could ensure timely support for such patients.

Praising the State Government

Raja Bhaiya also lauded the state government’s performance in law and order, citing a reduction in organized crime and strict action against personal vendetta-related crimes. He referenced the government’s sensitivity in addressing social issues, including filing a case related to the film Ghuskhore Pandit, which targeted a particular community.

CM Yogi Responds

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded positively to Raja Bhaiya’s requests, assuring that the government would review the proposed changes to facilitate easier access to medical assistance through MLA funds. He emphasized that the government works without discrimination to provide healthcare support to all needy and ailing citizens. Raja Bhaiya later expressed gratitude, noting that these measures would simplify medical aid for patients in the future.
