Raisen Horror: Six-Year-Old Brutally Assaulted, Accused Salman Arrested After Days of Unrest; Public Demands Full Encounter

In a shocking case that has shaken Madhya Pradesh, the police have arrested Salman, accused of the brutal assault of a six-year-old girl in Raisen district. Despite the arrest, public anger shows no sign of easing, with hundreds demanding a “full encounter” and handing over the accused to the public for “real justice.”

Doctors Shaken by Injuries

According to doctors at AIIMS Bhopal, the victim’s injuries were so severe that even senior medical staff “trembled” on seeing her condition. Her private parts were extensively damaged, and she remains in the ICU after emergency surgery. Doctors say she may need up to six months to recover physically, while the psychological trauma may take much longer.

Seven Days of Tension and Outrage

The incident, which took place on 21 November, sparked massive unrest across Goharganj. For six consecutive days, villagers held protests, blocked roads, and shut down markets, creating a curfew-like atmosphere. Police were forced to use mild force as emotions ran high and demands for the arrest intensified.

On Thursday night, as news spread that Salman had finally been arrested, hundreds gathered outside the Goharganj police station. People insisted the police hand him over, chanting slogans demanding strictest punishment.

Accused Found Hiding in Bhopal

After the assault, Salman reportedly escaped through forest routes and hid at a relative’s home in the Gandhinagar area of Bhopal. A CCTV clip later surfaced showing him eating pani puri at Ayodhya Bypass. Based on a tip-off, more than 500 officers were involved in the search operation before he was captured.

“Short Encounter” on the Way

While being transported by police, the vehicle allegedly suffered a flat tyre near Keerat Nagar. Taking advantage of the darkness, Salman attempted to flee after snatching a rifle from a constable and reportedly fired at the police. Officers retaliated, shooting him in the leg. He was then admitted to Hamidia Hospital.

Public Still Not Satisfied

Local residents and members of various organisations say this was a “staged short encounter” and demand a full encounter instead.
A local resident, Mohit Pawar, said:

“He does not deserve mercy. Hand him over to the public. Only then will the child get justice.”

Members of the National Bajrang Dal also announced renewed protests at the station.

Villages Living in Fear

The victim’s village is located three kilometres inside from the highway, surrounded by hills and abandoned crusher units—leaving the area isolated. Parents are afraid to send their children outdoors or to school. Police have been stationed outside the victim’s home for security.

A Timeline of the Week-Long Unrest
