Rain Alert in Delhi Today: Strong Winds to Lower Temperatures

Delhi is set to experience the return of rainfall today, accompanied by strong winds that will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures. Light showers are expected in two to three spells during the morning and evening.

On Monday, the winds had slowed down, resulting in warmer sunshine, with the maximum temperature reaching 23.2°C—1.1°C above normal. The minimum temperature, however, was recorded at 4.2°C, 4.2°C below the seasonal average. Specific readings included Palam at 19.3°C (max) and 4.3°C (min), Lodi Road at 4.7°C, Ridge at 5.3°C, Aya Nagar at 3.6°C, and Gurugram at 4.2°C.

Weather Forecast:
Cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, with light rainfall in the morning to afternoon and again in the evening or night. Winds could blow at speeds of 30–40 km/h, intensifying the chill in the city. Temperatures may drop by 4–5°C in successive spells.

Improved Air Quality on Republic Day:
The Republic Day celebrations witnessed a significant drop in pollution, marking the third-cleanest air since the introduction of the AQI system. Rain on January 23, followed by cold winds, helped clear the air. However, as of Monday, air quality deteriorated slightly, with Delhi recording an AQI of 241 and Faridabad at 174, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
