Ratlam/Sehore: Devotees planning a pilgrimage to Sehore for Mahashivratri have been given a major relief by the Indian Railways. To manage the expected heavy crowd during the festive period, the Ratlam railway division has announced that 21 pairs of trains from major cities including Indore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Jodhpur will make temporary halts at Sehore station.
Service from 13 to 22 February
The special arrangement will be in effect from 13 February to 22 February 2026. Typically, many of these trains do not stop at Sehore, forcing passengers from other states to travel via Bhopal or nearby stations. This new measure will save time and money for pilgrims traveling to the holy town.
Trains Included in the Temporary Halts
Key trains benefiting from this arrangement include:
- Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin Kshipra Express, Indore-Varanasi, Indore-Patna, and Dr. Ambedkar Nagar-Nagpur/Yeshwantpur/Prayagraj trains
- Ahmedabad-Darbhanga, Ahmedabad-Kolkata, Jodhpur-Puri, and Jaipur-Hyderabad long-distance trains
These halts will make it easier for devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and southern India to reach Sehore directly. Most trains will stop at the station for 2 to 5 minutes, ensuring smooth boarding and alighting amid the festival rush.
Passenger Convenience and Safety
Every year, millions gather in Sehore for Mahashivratri, creating sudden surges of crowd at the station. Railways officials have emphasized that passengers should check the official railway website for exact timings and schedule details to plan their journey efficiently.
Schedule Highlights
Some of the prominent trains scheduled for temporary halts include: Indore-Jabalpur Superfast, Valsad-Puri, Bhuj-Shalimar, and Gandhinagar-Varanasi Expresses. The ten-day arrangement is expected to benefit pilgrims, local businesses, and the general public, easing the flow of traffic during the festival.
