Ragging Incident at SN Medical College, Agra: Senior Students Accused of Assaulting MBBS Student and His Brother

Agra: A shocking case of ragging has surfaced at SN Medical College, Agra, where an MBBS student alleged that senior students assaulted him and later attacked his brother when he intervened. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Details of the Incident

The victim, Ramkumar, a 2023 batch MBBS student from Khajuria village, Hathras, stated that on 1 January 2026, while parking his car in the hostel premises, four senior students – Suraj Chaudhary, Rituraj Jatav, Gautam Baderia, and Vivek – approached him and began ragging him. They allegedly pressured him to get into a vehicle. When he refused, they physically assaulted him.

In response, Ramkumar called his brother, Lakhan Kumar, who resides in Agra. According to reports, the senior students then attacked his brother as well. Following the incident, Ramkumar filed a complaint at MM Gate Police Station, naming all four students for ragging and assault.

Investigation Underway

According to DCP City Syed Ali Abbas, while ragging has been alleged, preliminary findings suggest that the incident may also involve mutual altercation among students. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the hostel, which shows the events occurred around 9:15 PM.

College Response

SN Medical College Principal Dr. Prashant Gupta stated that the proctorial board has recorded statements from the accused students. He clarified that the case appears to be more of a mutual fight rather than classic ragging. Among the accused, one student belongs to the 2018 batch, two are from the 2021 batch, and one is from Firozabad Medical College. The hostel authorities are also investigating how an external student accessed the hostel premises at night.

The police and college administration continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances and hold the responsible students accountable.
