New Delhi, Jan 31:
A 55-year-old man from Punjab lost his life in a tragic multi-vehicle collision amid dense fog on the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Dwarka, Delhi, early Saturday morning, police officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Chhaju Singh, a resident of Channuwala village in Punjab. He was travelling in a taxi to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to see off his son, Amandeep Singh, when the accident occurred.
According to police, poor visibility due to heavy fog led to a chain collision involving multiple vehicles on the stretch. Singh sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said that traffic movement on the road was briefly affected following the accident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and responsibility.
The incident once again highlights the dangers of driving in low-visibility conditions during winter mornings in the national capital.
