Gurugram Tragedy: Retired Army Man Shoots Himself Outside Bank, Leaves Heart-Wrenching Note — “Ram Ram to All Who Were Unhappy With Me, Be Happy Now

GURUGRAM – In a shocking incident from Haryana’s Gurugram, a retired Army personnel allegedly shot himself dead outside a bank after withdrawing money on Friday. The deceased, who had earlier worked as a security guard at the same bank, left behind a suicide note and a bag containing ₹1 lakh in cash.

According to police, the man, identified as Ashok Kumar (55), a resident of Tikli village, ended his life using his licensed .32-bore revolver near the Sarva Haryana Gramin Bank in South City-2, under Sector 50 police station limits. The suicide note found at the spot contained a brief but emotional message:

Ram Ram to everyone who was unhappy with me; please be happy now.

What Happened Before the Tragedy

Preliminary investigations revealed that Kumar had been unemployed for over a year. He had worked as a security guard at the same bank for nearly eight years. On Thursday morning, around 10 a.m., he told his wife that he had received a job offer and was going for an interview — but instead went to the bank.

After withdrawing ₹1 lakh from his account, reportedly saying he needed to repay a loan, Kumar spent nearly two hours chatting with his former colleagues. Around 4:30 p.m., he moved behind the bank premises, sat on an empty handcart, and then tragically shot himself.

What Police Found

Police recovered the weapon, five live cartridges, and one empty shell from the scene. A senior investigating officer said the case is being examined from all possible angles, including the possibility of harassment or financial distress.

Kumar is survived by his wife and two sons — the elder one serving as a constable in the Haryana Police. Sector 50 SHO Sukhbir Singh stated that the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.

“We are investigating the reasons behind the suicide, including personal or financial issues. The note suggests deep emotional distress,” Singh added.

This heartbreaking case has once again highlighted the silent struggles faced by many ex-servicemen after retirement — where unemployment, stress, and loss of dignity often lead to unbearable despair.
