Faridabad/New Delhi: In a major breakthrough following the Red Fort blast in Delhi, authorities have uncovered a high-level terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH). Over 2,900 kilograms of explosives and weapons were seized from Faridabad, averting a potentially massive threat. The action came after the arrest of Kashmiri medical professor Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, who taught at Al-Falah University and also managed the hospital’s emergency department.
Weapons and Explosives Found in Faridabad
Police recovered an AK-56 assault rifle, a Krinkov rifle, three magazines, 83 live bullets, a pistol, and various bomb-making materials from a stash maintained by Dr. Muzamil in Dhouj, Faridabad. Investigators are probing whether the university laboratories were used to produce RDX or other advanced explosives.
New Terror Module Involving Professionals and Students
The arrests of four doctors and several associates have exposed a new terror module, composed of educated professionals and students, reportedly taking instructions from handlers based in Pakistan. Security agencies have warned that such highly skilled individuals make it easier to carry out sophisticated attacks with minimal chance of failure.
Emergency Department Head Also Implicated
Dr. Muzamil, a resident of Pulwama, not only taught medical students at Al-Falah University but also oversaw its emergency department. Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal stated that several associates linked to Dr. Muzamil have been taken into custody. Agencies are also investigating covert funding networks allegedly supporting educated terrorists operating across India.
Interstate and International Terror Links Cracked
The Jammu and Kashmir police first raised alarms on October 19 when threat posters linked to JeM appeared in Srinagar. Investigations revealed an interstate and international terror module connected to JeM and AGUH. Arrested individuals include Arif Nisar Dar (alias Sahil) and Yasir-ul-Ashraf from Nougam, Maksud Ahmed Dar (alias Shahid), Maulvi Irfan Ahmed from Shopian, Zamir Ahmed Ahanger from Ganderbal, Dr. Muzamil Ahmad Ganai from Pulwama, and Dr. Adil Majid Rather from Kulgam. Search operations were also conducted in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Shopian, Faridabad, and Saharanpur.
The Home Ministry has now handed over the entire investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further probe into the module’s nationwide and international links.
