Pune Road Rage Attack Leaves Woman Blind in One Eye

Pune, 15 December 2025: In a terrifying incident of road rage in Pune, a 28-year-old woman and her fiancé were attacked by three men after a minor traffic incident, resulting in severe injury to the woman’s eye. She had to undergo emergency surgery, and her vision has still not fully recovered.

According to reports, the incident occurred on 6 December near an underpass while Pooja Gupta and her fiancé were returning to Mumbai. Their car accidentally brushed against the foot of one of the three bikers. Although no one was initially hurt, a verbal altercation quickly escalated.

The attackers reportedly threw a stone at the car’s windshield, shattering it. Fleeing in fear, the couple got caught in traffic, at which point the attackers returned, smashing the remaining windows and the rear windshield. During the attack, a shard of glass struck Pooja’s left eye, causing serious damage. She was immediately taken to a private hospital in Chinchwad, where doctors performed emergency surgery to try to save her vision.

Pooja has stated that over a week has passed since the surgery, but her eyesight has not returned. Doctors have indicated that a second surgery may be needed if vision does not improve, and her full recovery remains uncertain due to internal bleeding in the eye.

The Pune police have registered an FIR under Sections 126(2) (wrongful obstruction), 125 and 125(a) (negligent acts endangering life or personal safety), 324(4) (causing injury by dangerous means), and 352 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
