Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh:
Tensions have surfaced in Khedi Doodhadhari village of the Titavi area in Muzaffarnagar district after Swami Yashveer Maharaj alleged that around 60 Rohingya families are illegally residing on Gram Sabha land. The religious leader has demanded immediate administrative action and warned of a sit-in protest if authorities fail to respond.
Swami Yashveer Maharaj, head of the Baghra Yog Sadhna Ashram, released a video statement claiming that villagers informed him about the presence of these families, who have allegedly been living in the village for the past eight years after constructing houses on government land.
He has called for a thorough verification of land ownership documents, stating that if the families’ names do not appear in the 1971 Census, they should be identified as illegal immigrants and appropriate legal action should be taken. Maharaj further demanded that any illegal constructions on public land be demolished following due process.
In his statement, Swami Yashveer Maharaj alleged that illegal immigrants are encroaching upon government land and availing public welfare benefits unlawfully. He accused the administration of inaction and warned that if no steps are taken soon, he would lead members of the Hindu community in a peaceful protest outside the residences of the alleged occupants.
He also referred to the situation in Bangladesh, claiming that minorities there are facing persecution, and reiterated that the state government has already issued directives to identify and take action against illegal immigrants, including Rohingyas.
As of now, district authorities have not issued an official response to the allegations. The situation remains under observation, and officials are expected to verify the claims in accordance with legal and constitutional provisions.
