Premanand Maharaj Expresses Concern Over Misuse of Women’s Laws, Urges Against Exploitation

Mathura: Revered saint Premanand Maharaj has voiced serious concern over the misuse of laws enacted to protect women. Speaking at his Radha Kelikunj Ashram in Vrindavan, Maharaj emphasized that these laws are meant to safeguard the vulnerable, not to harass the innocent.

During a private interaction, a devotee raised a question regarding the growing number of family disputes and instances where women allegedly misuse legal provisions for personal or financial gain. Responding thoughtfully, Premanand Maharaj acknowledged the devout purpose of these laws while cautioning against their exploitation.

A Historical Perspective
Maharaj reflected on past atrocities committed by men against women, highlighting the tragic consequences of dowry-related violence. “It was because of such inhumane treatment that the government had to enact strict laws for the protection of women,” he stated, underscoring that the intent of these laws is the welfare of women, not the persecution of men.

Warning Against False Cases and Exploitation
While supporting women’s safety, Maharaj also criticized the rising incidents of false cases and exploitation of men. He warned that using the law to harm innocent individuals is a grave injustice. “Those who misuse legal provisions will eventually face divine justice. One reaps the fruits of their good and bad deeds in this very life,” he added.

Decline in Social Values
Maharaj attributed the breakdown of family relationships and growing societal tension to the blind adoption of Western lifestyles and a drift from spiritual values. He highlighted that lack of discipline and the prevalence of casual relationships among youth often lead to instability in marital life. Practices such as live-in relationships, he noted, are harmful to Indian culture.

A Path to a Happy Family Life
Concluding his discourse, Premanand Maharaj advised couples to treat each other with dedication and friendship. He urged men who face undue hardships to remain patient and seek refuge in God. “If society follows the path of dharma and abandons reckless behavior, there will be no need for legal battles,” he said.
