Pregnant SWAT Commando Murdered: Husband Threatened Brother Over Phone Before Fatal Attack

New Delhi: Shocking revelations have emerged in the murder of Kajal Chaudhary, a 27-year-old Delhi SWAT commando, who was four months pregnant at the time of her death. According to police, Kajal sustained fatal injuries at her Mohan Garden residence in West Delhi after being struck with a dumbbell, and succumbed to her injuries on January 27, 2026, five days after the attack.

A Frightening Phone Call
Kajal’s brother, Nikhil, recounted a chilling phone conversation in which Kajal’s husband, Ankur, allegedly threatened her life. “Record this call; it will serve as evidence for the police,” Nikhil recalled Ankur saying. “I am killing your sister. The police can’t do anything to stop me.” Moments later, Nikhil heard Kajal’s screams, and the call abruptly ended. Just five minutes after the call, Nikhil received another call from Ankur, informing him that Kajal had died. Nikhil, a police constable posted at Parliament Street Police Station, rushed with his family to the hospital, where Kajal was already receiving treatment.

Allegations of Dowry Harassment
Kajal’s family accused Ankur and his relatives of long-term harassment and dowry-related abuse, even while she was pregnant. Her father, Rakesh Chaudhary, revealed that the couple had given a motorcycle, gold jewelry, and cash during the marriage, and later faced additional demands. Despite these concessions, harassment continued. The family stated that Kajal endured immense suffering, including physical abuse and extreme household labor, even during her pregnancy. Kajal and Ankur share a one-and-a-half-year-old son, currently staying with her parents.

History of Abuse
Nikhil recounted a previous incident from five months ago when Ankur slapped Kajal. Nikhil intervened, taking her home for safety. Despite repeated incidents, Kajal continued to manage household chores while pregnant, highlighting the extent of her suffering.

Timeline of the Fatal Attack
On January 22, Ankur allegedly struck Kajal’s head against a door frame before assaulting her with a dumbbell. A case was registered at Mohan Garden Police Station based on Nikhil’s complaint. Initially, the case was filed as attempted murder, but following Kajal’s death, charges are expected to be upgraded to murder.

Background
Kajal and Ankur had known each other since college and married on November 23, 2023. Following ongoing disputes at Ankur’s family home in Ganaur, Haryana, the couple moved to a rented residence in Mohan Garden in December 2024. Police officials suggest that financial stress and domestic disputes were key factors behind the escalating conflicts.

The horrifying case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the need for vigilance against domestic violence, dowry harassment, and spousal abuse, particularly for women in vulnerable circumstances.
