Bhadohi/Prayagraj: Dr. Praveen Togadia, senior leader of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), expressed deep concern over the recent controversy surrounding the Sangam Snan in Prayagraj. Calling for Hindu unity, he emphasized that the slogan, “Hindus divided will suffer”, is not merely a chant but a timeless truth.
The recent developments related to the Sangam Snan have sent ripples not only across Uttar Pradesh but throughout the country, unsettling the Hindu community. Speaking on the issue, Dr. Togadia described the controversy as deeply distressing and called upon Hindus to remain united and free from internal conflicts.
“People across Uttar Pradesh, including journalists, have been asking me about the Prayag Sangam Snan incident. I am personally very saddened,” he said. “This is not just my grief—our entire Hindu society is hurt by this situation. The slogan, ‘Hindus divided will suffer’, is not merely rhetoric; it is a truth born out of history and experience. Today, as the Hindu society progresses, we must not let internal disputes weaken us.”
Dr. Togadia highlighted the rich and illustrious traditions of Hinduism, noting that the 2,500-year-old legacy of Adi Shankaracharya and the Gurukuls of Gorakhnath Peeth have always played a unifying role in upholding faith, culture, and society. He described it as unfortunate that any controversy should arise during a sacred event like the Sangam Snan.
He also clarified that while no individual has the right to advise Shankaracharyas or revered Mahants, as a responsible Hindu, he appeals for an immediate resolution of the matter. He stressed that all sects, traditions, and saints must continue to be respected, and every devotee should have the right to bathe in the Sangam without fear, tension, or conflict.
Dr. Togadia expressed confidence that the disciples of revered Mahant Avadhyayanath Ji, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Shankaracharya, will collaboratively find a resolution to this sensitive issue. “With the guidance and leadership of our saints, the Hindu society will remain united, the dispute will be resolved, and the sanctity of our ancient traditions will remain intact,” he said.
Finally, Dr. Togadia urged the Hindu community to maintain patience, unity, and mutual respect, calling it the need of the hour.
