“Politicians’ Children Must Attend Government Schools for Real Change,” Shivsena MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati Roars in Assembly

Jaipur: During the budget session of the Rajasthan Assembly, Shiv MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati delivered a blistering critique of the state’s declining government education system, drawing attention from both ruling and opposition benches.

Hard-hitting attack on politicians’ dual standards

Speaking in the House, Bhati said bluntly, “Until the children of politicians and influential people study in government schools, these schools will never improve.” He accused policymakers of being concerned only with their own children’s education, sending them to elite private institutions while ignoring the conditions faced by ordinary students.

Bhati argued that if politicians’ children sat in the same classrooms as the public, even the dilapidated infrastructure and teacher shortages would be addressed overnight.

Concern for public education

Highlighting the rising dropout rates in border districts such as Jaisalmer and Barmer, Bhati claimed that politicians have become detached from the struggles of the common people. He pointed out that basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, and electricity remain inadequate in government schools because the self-interest of decision-makers is not aligned with public welfare.

Reforms limited to paperwork

Bhati’s statement has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many supporting his view that real reform will remain limited to official papers until the interests of those running the system are connected to public institutions.

His sharp critique has ignited a fresh debate in Rajasthan politics about the need for accountability and genuine investment in government education.
