Political Debate Turns Deadly in MP: Two Uncles Kill Nephew Over Bihar Poll Results

Guna, MP, 18 November 2025: The aftermath of the Bihar Assembly election has reached Madhya Pradesh in a tragic incident, where a heated political debate escalated into murder. Two men, supporters of the Janata Dal (United), allegedly killed their nephew, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supporter, following an argument over the Bihar election results.

Incident in Guna District
According to police reports, the victim, Shankar Manjhi (22), had traveled from Bihar’s Shivhar district for work and was staying with acquaintances Rajesh Manjhi (25) and Toofani Manjhi (27) in Guna. The two accused were both uncles of Shankar and ardent JD(U) supporters, while Shankar supported the RJD.

Argument Turns Violent
The discussion reportedly began while all three consumed alcohol. The debate over the Bihar elections gradually turned into a heated exchange of insults, during which the uncles lost control.

Brutal Attack in Mud
Police stated that the uncles dragged Shankar to a nearby patch of mud, pressing his face into water and soil until he suffocated. Emergency services rushed him to the district hospital, where he was declared dead.

Accused in Custody
The Guna police have taken Rajesh and Toofani Manjhi into custody. During interrogation, they admitted that the confrontation escalated due to intoxication and they could not control their anger. The police have registered a murder case and sent Shankar’s body for postmortem, while informing the family of the incident.

Investigation Underway
Police officials confirmed that the matter is being thoroughly investigated. The case highlights how political rivalries, when combined with alcohol, can tragically spiral out of control even within families.
