Police Sting Uncovers Sex Racket in Raigarh, Girls Brought from Other States

Raigarh, Feb 2:A police operation in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, led to the bust of a sex racket, resulting in the arrest of three women and two men, including an agent, officials said on Monday. The operation was carried out after local residents raised complaints about suspicious activity in a rented house in Kelo Vihar Colony.

According to police, intelligence suggested that women were being trafficked into the house from other districts and states to engage in prostitution. Acting on the tip-off, the police devised a sting operation, with one officer posing as a customer to confirm the racket. Once the officer verified the arrangement with the agent, the police team launched a raid.

During the raid, three women aged between 20 and 30 were found in separate rooms, along with a 35-year-old man, identified as one of the accused. Investigations revealed that the agent was arranging sex work by bringing girls from Odisha, Bilaspur, and Lailunga.

Police also recovered condoms and obscene materials from the premises. All the accused were taken into custody, and the seized items have been confiscated for further investigation. Authorities said the case is being investigated under relevant sections of the law, and further action will be taken against those involved in human trafficking and running the illegal operation.

The operation has been lauded as an example of proactive policing and community vigilance, highlighting the role of local residents in reporting illegal activities.
