Police Probe Doctor Umar’s Movements 12 Minutes Before Delhi Blast; Mosque Visit Under Scrutiny

New Delhi: In a developing investigation following the powerful alleged suicide attack near Red Fort, Delhi Police are closely examining the movements of Dr. Umar in the critical 12 minutes prior to the blast. Sources reveal that the suspect visited a mosque near Ramleela Maidan, under the Kamla Market Police Station jurisdiction, where he remained for approximately 12 minutes.

Authorities are probing whether Dr. Umar offered prayers or met anyone during this short interval. While intelligence agencies have not ruled out local support, police are conducting detailed questioning of individuals associated with the mosque to establish who was present in the vicinity at that time.

Suspect Drives to Red Fort Parking Area
After leaving the mosque, Dr. Umar reportedly drove his Hyundai i20 to the Red Fort parking area, where the vehicle remained stationary for about three and a half hours before being used in the attack. Investigators have learned that he was regularly monitoring arrested members of the Faridabad module and used a Signal phone to communicate with his handlers.

Forensic and Digital Evidence Under Analysis
Forensic experts are examining fragments of Dr. Umar’s suspected Signal device to trace his contacts. The Delhi Forensic Laboratory has collected over 46 samples from the blast site, including vehicle debris, metal fragments, and biological remains. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the damaged vehicle, while FSL, CBI, and NIA teams are analyzing the parts in the lab.

Continuous Movements Across Delhi
Investigators found that Dr. Umar had been frequently moving between Usmanpur and the Jama Masjid area, maintaining contacts with several individuals there. CCTV footage from the mosque area and nearby lanes is being scrutinized to determine if he received local support for executing the attack. The focus remains on suspects connected to the Doctor Terror Module.

Car Dealers and Intermediaries Under Scrutiny
Delhi Police are also investigating the role of car sellers and intermediaries involved in the sale of the Hyundai i20 used in the blast. Dealership records, transaction details, and CCTV footage are being reviewed. In a recent development, a car dealer from Faridabad, Amit, owner of Royal Car Plaza, was taken into custody for questioning regarding the sale of the vehicle.

The probe is ongoing as authorities work to trace all links leading up to the Red Fort blast.
