Bhopal:
A violent attack on a private café in Misrod, Bhopal, stunned the city earlier this week when over 20 masked men stormed inside armed with swords, sticks, and iron rods. Within minutes, they vandalized glass panels, furniture, display units, and machines, leaving customers terrified. Acting swiftly, the police arrested five key accused within 24 hours and conducted a public parade to send a strong message against rising violent incidents.
Masked Gang Storms Café, CCTV Footage Goes Viral
The incident occurred late Monday night at Magic Spot Café in Misrod. CCTV footage shows a mob of masked youths, their faces wrapped with scarves, barging into the café and unleashing a wave of destruction. Moments before the attack, panic broke out among the customers—one young man and a woman were seen escaping just in time.
Swift Police Action: Five Arrested, Public Parade Held
Following the café owner’s complaint, joint teams from Misrod, Bagsevania, and Katara Hills police stations launched an intensive investigation. Using CCTV footage, they traced the escape route of the attackers and arrested five suspects within a day.
In a dramatic crackdown, the police paraded the accused through the main market area in a semi-naked condition, their ears held and heads lowered. The parade began from the café itself. Officers stated that the purpose of the public march was to deliver a clear warning: “Violence and hooliganism will not be tolerated in the state capital.”
Old Rivalry Behind the Attack
Preliminary investigations suggest that the café attack was linked to an old rivalry between two groups. On November 16, a clash in Katara Hills resulted in a youth named Yogi being assaulted by Abhishek Rajput and his friends. To avenge that fight, students allegedly planned and executed the assault on the café. Notably, Abhishek is a friend of one of the café partners.
Café Owner Reports Major Damage
Café owner Saksham Giri filed a case against Yogi, Nikhil, Abhishek, and five others including several unidentified individuals. Two accused named in the complaint have been arrested, while three are being questioned. Giri stated that he had no personal enmity with anyone and estimated the damage at ₹2.5 lakh.
More Arrests Likely Soon
The Misrod police have registered a second FIR in connection with the violence. Multiple teams are working to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects, and officials expect more arrests soon.
