Police Officer and Brother-in-Law Arrested for Kidnapping Laborers in Hapur

Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, 29 November 2025: In a shocking incident that exposes the dark side of law enforcement, a head constable posted at Chijarsi police outpost in Pilkhuwa has been suspended for abducting two migrant laborers along with his brother-in-law. The victims, who had come from Madhya Pradesh to work, were forced to labor in the constable’s fields in Nangla Khaepur village, Muzaffarnagar.

Victims Freed After Quick Action
The incident came to light when a friend of one of the victims raised an alarm with the Meerut Railway Police. Acting swiftly, police raided the fields, rescued the two laborers, and arrested the constable, Dharmveer Singh, and his brother-in-law, Monty. Disciplinary action, including suspension and initiation of dismissal proceedings against the constable, has been taken.

How the Abduction Happened
According to the police, Rajkumar from Sindhi district, Madhya Pradesh, along with his friends Kamlesh, Gulab Das, and another companion, arrived at Cantt railway station in Meerut via the Utkal Express. While traveling by e-rickshaw, four men posing as police forcibly abducted them and took them to Dharmveer Singh’s village, where they were threatened and made to work in the fields.

E-Rickshaw Driver’s Quick Thinking Leads to Arrest
The e-rickshaw driver suspected foul play and discreetly took photographs of Dharmveer Singh, which were later shared with the railway police. CCTV footage from the station corroborated the abduction. Following complaints lodged by Rajkumar and his companions, the police registered an FIR and tracked the perpetrators.

Ongoing Investigation
While Kamlesh and Gulab were rescued, two other individuals, Prince and Ashwani from Nangla Khaepur, remain at large. The police are actively searching for them and continuing the investigation to ensure all responsible parties are brought to justice.
