In one of the biggest crackdowns on drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh, police have busted an illegal MD drug manufacturing unit in Chikalana village of Ratlam district, seizing narcotics and other contraband worth nearly ₹15 crore. The late-night operation led to the recovery of around 11 kg of MD drugs, large quantities of chemicals, illegal firearms, live cartridges, sandalwood wood, and even two live peacocks.
According to police officials, the action was carried out by special teams of the Jawra division after three days of surveillance on the suspicious premises. Acting on concrete intelligence that MD drugs—often referred to as “white poison”—were being manufactured at the site, more than 50 police personnel from five police stations, led by two Additional Superintendents of Police, cordoned off the area and conducted a raid around midnight.
Shocking Recoveries Inside the Factory
When police entered the premises, they were stunned by what they found. Apart from the drug manufacturing setup, the location appeared to be a hub of multiple illegal activities. The seizure included approximately 10.9 kg of MD drugs, chemicals and raw materials worth nearly ₹3 crore, 12-bore guns, and 91 live cartridges.
In addition, police recovered sandalwood logs and two live peacocks, pointing towards violations of wildlife protection and forest laws. Officials from the Forest Department were immediately called to the spot to initiate separate proceedings related to wildlife crime and illegal possession of sandalwood.
Multiple Arrests, Probe Underway
More than a dozen suspects have been taken into custody for questioning. Police are interrogating them to trace the wider drug supply network and identify links extending beyond the district and state.
Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, who closely monitored the operation from Bhopal, said the investigation is being conducted thoroughly and no one involved will be spared. “This is a serious case involving narcotics, illegal arms, and wildlife crime. All angles are being investigated,” he said.
Factory Linked to Former Assembly Candidate
Sources revealed that the illegal drug factory is allegedly linked to Dilawar Khan Pathan, a resident of the Chikalana area, who had contested the 2023 Assembly elections from Jawra. He is reportedly associated with the Azad Samaj Party and is said to have links with Nagina MP Chandrashekhar. The raid was conducted at a premises where Dilawar Khan’s family also resides; however, during the operation, family members were not allowed to step outside.
The massive seizure and arrests have sent shockwaves across Ratlam and surrounding regions, marking a significant blow to the drug mafia operating in western Madhya Pradesh. Police officials have indicated that further arrests and major disclosures are likely in the coming days as the investigation progresses.
