
Purnia, Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to land at Purnia Airport in Bihar while on his way to West Bengal. The state administration has intensified preparations for his arrival. Bihar Cabinet Ministers Dilip Jaiswal and Lacy Singh will formally receive the Prime Minister, a politically significant gesture highlighting the state government’s coordination and protocol adherence.
Security Arrangements:
The Special Protection Group (SPG), in coordination with the district administration and airport authorities, has taken charge of security at the airport. Though it is a transit visit, strict protocols are being followed to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety and convenience during his brief stop.
Bihar Ministers to Welcome PM:
Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal and Food & Consumer Protection Minister Lacy Singh, prominent leaders from the Seemanchal region, will personally greet PM Modi at the airport. Their presence reflects the state government’s seriousness in ensuring both political goodwill and protocol standards.
West Bengal Visit:
PM Modi is undertaking a two-day tour of West Bengal and Assam, inaugurating and laying the foundation for several development projects worth thousands of crores. His visit in West Bengal will commence in Malda, where he will flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train at Malda Town Railway Station around 12:45 PM. Following this, he will dedicate and lay the foundation for multiple rail and road infrastructure projects worth over ₹3,250 crore during a public program at 1:45 PM. On 18 January, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for various development projects worth approximately ₹830 crore in Singur, Hooghly, and flag off three new Amrit Bharat Express trains, enhancing connectivity across the region.
Assam Program:
On 18 January, PM Modi will travel to Kaliabor in Nagaon, Assam, to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project valued at over ₹6,950 crore. This 86 km environmentally conscious national highway project includes a 35 km elevated wildlife corridor passing through Kaziranga National Park, a 21 km bypass, and widening of the existing NH-715 from two to four lanes. He will also flag off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains, improving rail connectivity between Northeast and Northern India, ensuring safer and more convenient travel for passengers.
